The Island Super Strategy (only for masochists)

RIGHT SIDE

O.K. I'm new to these forums and this is my first post. I would just like to share a strategy I have been employing on the island stage that is risky, but rather hard to counter.
It's going to be rather tedious to explain... but

P1. Build a wall about 2/5 of the way into ground in front of player 2 (about half a platform away).
P2. Jump onto the wall, build a platform as far right and as high as you possibly can.
P3. Shoot P2 with a rocket. If you hit him just right, he will land on the platform you built.
With the remaining playes, build walls that you can jump onto on the top of the hill and grenade away.

Like I said, this strategy is costly and risky but can pay great dividends

with ONE shot or nade they can kill the guy on the platform, so not so great

What's a masochist? (I don't feel like looking around for the definition myself)

Re: The Island Super Strategy (only for masochists)

I tested this strategy out in a game today and was quite pleased. At first I was a little skeptical, however, it does provide an almost impossible place to hit for one of the players. If you build a wall in front of the plat, then they can't rocket you therefore being almost invincible.

I think it's just a referance to how costly the strategy can be, in other worlds "don't be afraid to take one for the team bro."

Re: The Island Super Strategy (only for masochists)

Masochism isn't about taking one for the team, though, it's about taking one for yourself because you enjoy it.  With masochism, the pain is the point, not a means to an end.

Thomas, I tried your throw and couldn't get it to do anything in particular.  You'll need to be more descriptive.  Is it a 42 degree angle coming up from the bottom, or a 42 degree angle coming down from the top?  How close to the edge do you need to be?  What exactly do you mean by "almost full"?

There are a lot of grenade throws on Island which kill an opponent outright, and a number of them do more than that.  All advanced players know at least three or four of these, so if you're looking to keep up with them on Island you should practice and find out more of them.

I really ought not to bother.

Why not? Why is it wrong to revive old topics if they can still be relevant? If he has something on topic to say there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. There is no rule against reviving old topics.

And being said again makes it clearer, so the person who made this has more than 1 or 2 people saying the same thing. If it was only 1 or 2 people he would be like, "Oh, it's just 1 or 2 people, what do they know?".

Why did it need clarifying? Most people aren't even gonna pay attention to a topic that's about 8 or 9 months old.

Reviving old topics is not against the rules, but it is frowned upon.  Not sure why because this forum is never really that busy anyway.  But I don't think your post was worth the revival.

Re: The Island Super Strategy (only for masochists)

I haven't tried this strategy myself, but I have seen someone who was trying to teach it to me with horrible results. I wouldn't ever consider trying it myself because I need all six of my people to actually win a game. I have learnt that if you are on the left side, red team, then you are able to put a wall between the blue team green surfaces and put it touching the bigger surface. The bottom rung of the wall must be slightly above the ocean in the horizon. If you practice you will soon understand what i mean. I have practiced with this, and the only way i have found to counteract the strategy is to blow a corner off of the top edge of the wall.
