OMG MOD HA-
Thank you. Turns out I really like a few of the songs and really hate a few others, which is a little odd, but they definitely seem interesting enough to look into.
The song i'm listening to is saliva- ladies and gentlemen.
Wannabe 'indie' rubbish.
They're not indie, they're clearly pop, but I happen to enjoy the music. What elements does a band have to have exactly to equal "rubbish", Silas? Do you mean to say it's not your kind of song, or is there something fundamentally wrong with the way they play? I'm just interested is all.
also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3DAp63pEO4 is what I'm listening to currently.

Il ike the white stripes, Raconteurs and Dead Weather all a bit. Jack white is an incredible guitarist and a great song writter and artist.

Party of speacial things to do cover by the white stripes, originaly by captain beefheart
Shrub, if there is one thing that I do know quite a lot about, it is music. They are trying to be something, and put all of the elements of a supposed 'indie' band into their music. This is completely fine, but I myself find ridicule within this, at least in my own mind. I listened to quite a few songs, and watched a few performances, as I've done with everything someone has mentioned here. Bands like that just make me roll my eyes, which is why I commented, but I don't judge something based off of one song. I know they aren't an indie band, because indie IS NOT a music genre, but it is still what they are portraying. The 'indie' scene.
The whole "let's rip every off and play Joy Division and New Order songs really fast with a more upbeat tune and wear tight clothes and flail about in a quirky manner" thing is really old. I wasn't striving to offend you or your tastes. You have to remember not everyone is going to like what you like, and vice versa. It's surfaced many a' time for my own tastes, considering how much different music I tend to enjoy.
As for Jack White, I don't like his whole image, but I have enjoyed some White Stripes in the past, even if their sound, as well, isn't too original, but I REALLY think he lost it when he made up the Dead Weather, even though it sounds exactly like all of his other bands.

This is a great article, and an amazing website.
However, they do get props for covering Captain Beefheart.
I actually agree with most of what you said. The whole 'Fallout Boy' and 'Owl City' type wannabe indie bands annoy me to no end. I personally just find the song itself good. I don't even follow the band. I really hate when bands try to make it more about their image and less about the music. One of the prime examples of this is Kings of Leon. They used to be one of my favorite bands, due to their gritty southern style riffs, great drumming and good lyrics, but now they're just another mainstream carbon copy, simply because the record company told them to do so. Such a shame.
