Re: Let's Talk Video Games

If a game is on multiple consoles, then good.  The quality of a game has nothing to do with what console it's on, and most people don't actually own more than one console anyway, so more people get to play it if it isn't exclusive.  The fact that Okami was on the PS2 before it hit the Wii doesn't change the fact that it's a pretty game and that graphical hardware isn't everything.  Seiken Densetsu 3.  It's a Super Nintendo game and it's beautiful.

Just graphics arent everything. I hate people who think so and believe me there are some people that believe that.

Ihave a friend that thinks graphics are everything. However, he likes MW2, so he has no credibility among the gaming world.

...Kidding.

Re: Let's Talk Video Games

Was gonna make a video game topic, but searched for another topic to see if there was one that already existed. This one is more than good enough. 2 questions: Can I do this? or should I have just made a new topic. Secondly and more on topic, I used to be a really really big video game nerd and geek. I learned how to read at the age of two, and the first paragraph I've ever read was a cheat on how to bounce over walls on Mario Kart 64 soooo..... Anyone here game addicts? For the past few years things have been busy for me and so I had to drop a lot of personal interests for responsibility, but I've made time to get into the game industry again and I love talking about video games. The games I've been wondering about lately is Vanquish, Tekken 6, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, The Untitled Bungie Project, the Professor Layton series, Batman Arkham Asylum and to kick in a racing game in there, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. Anything that'll start a peaceful discussion... or a heated argument tongue

Oh yeah, I forgot the game I was most excited about playing, Starcraft 2... I'm downloading the demo but it's gonna take a few hours sad

Haha my bad dude, and surprisingly there are 5 games with a 6th to be announced. I've only gotten to play the first game and what really surprised me was the great movies they had in there.

In order:

The Curious Village
The Diabolical Box
The Unwound Future
The Specter's Flute
The Mask of Miracle

And in addition to those games, I read there was a movie about it. I'm still reading about it though

Re: Let's Talk Video Games

Topic revival is fine for stuff like this, and making new topics is fine too.

The Layton games are pretty short, like 10-15 hours I think.  I think they're amazing, too, especially the third one.  You can watch the movie on Youtube and I thought it was good.  Obviously you would want to play the games first though.

Alright, thanks exe, and I'll be sure to play the next 2 games before I watch the movie big_smile

Re: Let's Talk Video Games

I found the second game the best Layton game as it was harder than the other two. I will use this topic to announce that yesterday, i just completed all three Layton games (that have been released) without using a single hint coin. It took me slightly longer than what exe is saying as a completion time (It took me about 20 hours) but I feel as though I have achieved something.
Layton Interesting Fact #1: Some of the games have different names between UK and US release. The second game in the series is called Diabolical Box is USA and Pandora's Box in the UK. Likewise, the Unwound Future is called the Lost Future in the UK.

P.S. exe knows everything above.

Okami. Good game. I love you. Win.

I really can't get into FPS,TPS. And I can only get into a few Strategy games, AKA Command and Conquer.

Most games I play are either Nintendo, or RPG games... I find under-rated, less popular games the best.

AKA Dark Cloud

http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u191/cucco_slicer/pic010.jpg

Amazing RPG. Suspensful. Sad at parts. Long. AMAZING Music. AMAZING Storyline, ect.

It was one of the PS 2's first RPGs... Sadly, people through it aside for wild-random games like Carl on Duty, ect.

It has a sequel, and all that...

BUT! I seriously think the PS 2 was the best Play station system. It had a balance of games, not everything was what 12 year olds called "bad-ass".

hmm

Out of all the GTAs, you favor a specific expansion pack? Weird.

Re: Let's Talk Video Games

Love seein the discussion come to life. CViper, thanks for the note on Prof. Layton, I seriously can't wait to play it big_smile I just tried playin starcraft, was up all night last night haha it's really awesome. It's a lot like the first game, but the way they refined everything makes the game perfect for me. it sucks the way my laptop was under the minimal requirements so I had everything on the lowest settings sad haha but it's all good

GetOuttaMyYard, I'm going to check out the music on that game, I like video game music cuz they're well thought out (most of the time) Like in SSMB in the music's section all the remakes of the old nintendo classics amaze me.

Notable video game composers:

Harry Gregson Williams:  Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Inon Zur: Men of Valour, Fallout 3, Prince of Persia (2008)

Jack Wall: Mass Effect, Myst IV: Revelation, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow

Jesper Kyd: Freedom Fighters, Hitman series, Assassin's Creed II

Kenji Yamamoto: Metroid Prime trilogy, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!

Kō Ōtani: Shadow of the Colossus, Sky Odyssey

Koji Kondo: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Star Fox 64

Michael Giacchino: Call of Duty, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Mickey Mania

Michiru Ōshima: Ico, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Takenobu Mitsuyoshi: Shenmue, Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter

My favorite composer is Koji Kondo smile

Lol, yeah, what I liked the most was the vast feeling of it, you can roam around with out worrying about crashing into a car.

Gta4 was a complete failure, 95% the missions are repetitive and story is boring, plus the 360 caused the game to be smaller due to dvd disk limitations compared to blu-ray.  And I'm also sad that I picked the story ending that causes Roman to die.

I can't believe Elemental War of Magic and Civilization V both failed to live up to expectations.  I mean seriously.  Where is my strategy fix?

Never played any of those strat games before, the ones I've played before is the dawn of war games and rise of nations/legends.

Here's a game that I've loved for a long time and just remembered: Worms Armageddon. It's a lot like Two and i think is the reason why I took a quick liking to two. It also turns out Worms Armageddon: Reloaded came out last August, so i'm psyched now and i'm aimin to buy the game. Check out the trailer

TWO was actually directly inspired by the "Worms" series. I don't really like it though, it gets boring fast, unlike TWO, which has months of replay value, for me at least.

Haha yeah I agree, I play Worms on my sandbox mood when I wanna mess around, I mean cmon we can use jetpacks, exploding bananas, super sheep, and the customizable voices are hilarious hahaha tongue But yeah Two is more balanced game-play wise
