Food Thread.

I'm creating this thread for two reasons:

a. I don't know what to cook tonight.
b. This forum needs a food thread.

I have Chicken, Mushrooms, Red Peppers, Rice (That isn't fry-able), Soy Sauce and a very large spice cupboard. Obviously it'll be Chinese but what. I also have bits and bobs around the house. A speedy reply is necessary.

After these suggestions, discuss what foods you like/dislike and why. What are your thoughts on Fast Food Outlets. This thread can also be used as above.

Cook chicken
Apply mushrooms and red peppers
Cook rice
Apply soy sauce
Eat bits and bobs for desert

Re: Food Thread.

Yeah I figured that out thanks. I didn't want to do that because I had something very similar on Monday but I'm running out of thoughts.

Re: Food Thread.

I would suggest arroz con pollo, but that requires quite a bit of marination time and isn't Chinese.

this is the recipe I have for it:

1. Adobo seasoning(if you canít find at store, it is easily replaced by some ground black and red pepper)
2. 1 cup of rice
3. 11/2 of water
4. 3 pieces of boneless, skinless chicken breast
5. 5 garlic cloves, peeled
6. 11/2 tablespoons salt
7. 1 teaspoon finely ground black pepper
8. 1/2 cup olive oil
9. 1/4 cup vinegar
10. 1 tablespoon oregano

Needed:
food processor
oven
9x13 in baking pan/dish
aluminum foil

Using a food processor chop garlic until minced. Add salt, pepper and oregano and pulsate until blended. Add vinegar and pulsate again until blended. Add oil in a steady stream. Pulsate until mixture is well combined. Get out large gallon storage freezer bag and insert the chicken(thaw beforehand) and the mixture you just made. Close the bag and shake it, make sure that you rub around the solid parts of the marinade onto the chicken. Marinade overnight. Then, take out chicken and season liberally with adobo seasoning. Put in eough rice to cover bottom of baking pan , then add another handfull of rice and spread it out. Add the water, then if it suits your fancy, add some of the adobo seasoning to the water, then add the chicken. preheat oven to 375 and place two sheets of aluminum foil over baking sheet. When the oven reaches temperature, put pan in the oven, make sure the foil is on tightly. Then cook for 60 minutes. After cooking remove foil and tear up chicken with a knife and fork, then stir the chicken and rice until they look evenly combined.

Re: Food Thread.

I've been loving mexican food lately. Recently found a restaurant that gives you a burrito, chips, and a drink for just 3.75. It's authentic too.

As for what I've been cooking, I've been experimenting with Ramen instant noodles lately, adding things like eggs, peppers, and pork. Let me tell you, it's amazing.

I don't do much cooking though. Most of my diet consists of noodles, burritos, and cereal. However, I'm always open to making new things.

Perfect ingredients for a nice stir-fry.

And to be honest, my favourite foods are mostly Japanese foods, especially the soups. Dunno why. Chicken is awesome too. There is alot more, like Meat loaf, ect, but there is too much to list.

Re: Food Thread.

Indian food is nice if done properly. I like curry that is served in the Western World but it doesn't have a patch on the stuff served in the East. I find usually (in England at least) that people over here just want their curry as hot as possible to impress their friends. Spicy > Hot.
The same can be said for pizzas which are so much nicer in Italy.
I want to try Mexican food but we don't have that many places that sell it. Supermarkets do the ingredients so I might try it in due course. We have a few Spanish restaurants which might be similar.
I decided to just stir-fry it all even though it was a carbon copy of what I had on Monday.

Re: Food Thread.

Nutty piece of crap with corn and bacon. ((Well... Doesn't have to be corny and full of bacon. Could be anything.)) Crap 10-20 times, roll them into a hotdog shape, and boil them. The boiled water can make a nice beverage, too.
