Piano music

I found a microphone buried in a drawer so I figured I'd record one of my songs for you guys.  It's not my most interesting song, and I didn't play it all that well anyway but I think it sounds good enough.

Here's the link (you don't need to download it)

A flat minor
The Starway

I may record some of my other stuff if I can get over my recording stage fright.

Re: Piano music

What most people dont know is that you can put stuff together and make money doing stuff like this, without doing any sort of record deals. Just put shit together(make it sound good) and sell it.

Haha yeah, my left hand is unfortunately not all that adept at working on its own, so I mostly use repetitive bass lines like this one.  They work well enough most of the time and I can expand on them if I'm writing stuff on the computer.

Each person should have their own topic for their stuff, I think, but we do need more music here.

I don't think so.  There are reasons that musicians are all poor.

Yeah, it's an upright.  My dad used to play so we've always had it.

I could try, but that's never been my strong suit so it would take a long while to figure it out.

Re: Piano music

I have a microphone but the acoustics of my garage are terrible so playing a drum solo would just sound like noise when put on the computer. Nice piece.

Ringo Starr was one of the most over-rated, unimaginative and simplistic drummers ever to have walked the Earth.

The Beatles in general are the most over-rated band ever.

Re: Piano music

If you're saying the Beatles were not a revolutionary band, you're a retard.

All great artists in general are over-rated. Anything with an ounce of worth is over-rated in society because that's just what society does to it. Just because stuff becomes mainstream or popularized doesn't make it worthless.

I loved that show (well the first few seasons) and that's a memorable tune from it. I could figure it out pretty easily.

My computer is too far away from my piano and I don't have a lap top so I had to use a MIDI to record this, that's why it sounds so clear. Didn't edit or use effects, just played.

Anyway, I know you were talking to exe, but I really like this song so I gave it a shot:

Musically, they weren't revolutionary. They were part of a genre that had been started a decade before and did nothing much to revolutionise that genre. No more so than any other rock band of the era. They had a lead guitar, a rhythm guitar, a bass guitar and a drums set. They played simplistic beats and riffs that any beginner could play. Hardly revolutionary I'm sure you would agree.

The influence they had on pop culture was immense, however and I thought John Lennon's solo career was good but The Beatles as a band were pretty bad.

Re: Piano music

I would argue that they were most certainly a revolutionary band, not only in their influence on pop culture, but also in how they affected music of the time. I think your argument is that their music was too simple to be revolutionary. Re-think that because many great musicians starting as early as Mozart made their mark with the simplest of creations.

The Beatles pioneered the multi-track recording studio, drum machine, delay unit, fuzz box, etc. all of which changed music of the time and are still used today. They may have used simplistic beats and riffs, but they orchestrated their sounds better than any other band of the time.
