Re: Everything Pokémon

Last question I promise. What the hell does the move agility do besides raising speed like it says on pokemon websites? For a move that useless, why do some of my pokemon learn it at like level 45? That makes me feel like it's much more important than just a boost in speed. Am I missing something?

Re: Everything Pokémon

Nah, It just increases the speed by a lot. Doubles it's speed if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Everything Pokémon

It's a good move if you have time to set up, so slower pokemon can sweep through the enemy team if powerful enough. You may waste a turn getting faster but once you kill the opponent's pokemon you can go first against your opponents next pokemon.

It's mainly useful in PVP. If you teach it to a pokemon that knows baton pass you can get transfer the buff to get usable speed onto pokemon that would otherwise die before they did any damage.

I remember you mentioning that you were using an emulator, so for your purposes it's pretty useless.

Legendaries are a bitch to catch.

Also, anyone have Black/White 2? I'm debating on getting it since I have Pokemon Black and I'm not sure if it's really worth getting.

Re: Everything Pokémon

I had it, it's ok. If you have the extra cash and want to find different pokemon in the new areas now I would get it. The story is rather lame though and the difficulty about the same.

I have it. There's a lot more to do than just the story and it's got way more hours of play time rivaling with even gold and silver. I love how you can fight any of the gym leaders from all the generations and regions. I love it. Still, I believe it could have been better.

Re: Everything Pokémon

My best set up is having a hacked Machamp with the moveset: Attract, Sleep Powder, Pound, and Stringshot.

Why not replace pound with something more powerful like earthquake?

Sounds pretty decent. I might order it from Amazon but I'll see haha.

Well, in Red/Blue/Yellow, it undid the speed reduction of Paralysis- so you use it and you go from one quarter of your original speed to three times your original speed. Other then that, you stuff it onto stuff like Metagross or something with really low speed/high attack to actually attack something first.

Re: Everything Pokémon

By the way fellas, a new type of pokemon is being added for the first time since gold and silver. It's called Fairy type. Jigglypuff is now a Fairy type. Fairy type moves do 2 times the damage to Dragon type pokemon. This was added because dragon types were kinda overpowered.

It's probably going to be like grass type in that the moves focus on utility and have crappy damage. Dragon types are going to be just fine.

Re: Everything Pokémon

Dragon types have a right to be overpowered with how rare they are and how difficult it is to level them up.

Yeah, but then the metagame pretty much revolves around Salamence, Garchomp, Dragonite and Latias wiggling their dicks around and killing everything but like 3 pokemon (which are all steel type), and then having the pokemon to kill the steel types so that the Dragons keep wiggling around one/two shotting everything.

Fairy Type looks kinda cool, but unless they put it on something decent like Mew, Alakazam, or Whismicott, it's not gonna change much. Unless they stuff it full of ridiculosly OP moves like V-Create.

Re: Everything Pokémon

Garchomp wasn't much of a problem imo. I agree with you tho, so far only marill, jigglypuff, and gardevoir are the confirmed new fairy types (Excluding the new eevee form).

Re: Everything Pokémon

I'm hoping the new Eevee is goddamn amazing, because so far Pure Power Marill/Azumarill seems to be the only half-decent Fairy type, and even then, they're only really good for rain abusing shenanigans.

Well, aren't most of the other eevee evolutions pretty damn good?

Espeon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon are pretty good, but the rest are pretty bad. Even Espeon was pretty bad before it got its new abillity, Jolteon doesn't really learn any good moves other than Thunderbolt (and maybe Hidden Power, if you're a little obsessive with breeding), and Vaporeon isn't too good at attacking.

Re: Everything Pokémon

Flareon doesn't learn a lot of moves that play to the strengths implied by its stats. It's also not very fast. It has good defensive typing, which means it can switch in on a couple moves without dying, but once switched in it has nothing to do (even if you teach it baton pass.) Pretty much every team carries earthquake, and ground type moves are one of Flareon's few weaknesses(not to mention that it's stats are best for being specially defensive so earthquake is definitely going to hit pretty hard as a physical move.) Even then, Flareon's HP stat is terrible, so most of the time it ends up dying in two hits to moves it isn't even weak to.

Leafeon has a better defense stat than flareon, but has more weaknesses and less resistances. Leafeon resists the common Electric and Ground type moves, Flareon resists the common Steel and ice type moves. Leafeon is better than Flareon, however, because you can actually give it something to do once you get it in. It actually learns useful moves.

Umbreon is the best eeveelution, although, as a pokemon that focuses on defense, it's inability to learn submission is something you could criticize. It's dark type, so it is immune to psychic moves which have always been pretty common in pvp. It's only weaknesses are to fighting and bug, and although fighting type moves are pretty common. It's better than vaporeon because of it's type and more versatile stats.

Glaceon absolutely terrible, type-wise, and is just as slow as flareon is. That, combined with it's also terrible HP stat make it the worst eeveelution of all. It's special attack stat is nice, but it's never going to stay alive long enough to make use of it. It's defense stat is nice, but it's weak to a lot of (common)physical moves so it can't take advantage of it very well. Move-wise, Glaceon has the same problem as Flareon.

Re: Everything Pokémon

Umbreon is an amazing wall with its movepool of supporting moves and good defensive stats.
