TWBoards Nostalgia

It's come to my attention that TWBoards is dying. I hope it isn't physically, but here's my last thread if so.
I figured it'd be nice to reminisce about this place. To start, I'm only now 18, it's kinda funny now. I became mod in what year? 2008, 2009?

So here's all the blunders and other things I made/encountered/remember.

- Ban system was down so I changed people's e-mail to my own and sent a password change request to pseudo-ban them. It was invasive but it worked.
- Generally trolling the population both intentionally and not.
-Constant arguing with RhinestoneCowboy
-Joining Final Boss when Sparten was the owner.
-Resurrecting said clan much later.
-Formation of my first clan and the minor popularity of it.
-DracoOccisor (Never could spell his damn name) and UTK.
-exe.cute and her immaculate k/d in TWO
-F1st's lovely paint.net drawings, what got me into graphics and web design and the best free software I've ever used.
-Sck.Warrior's gay porn spam
-Warbird
-The Andrew guy that trolled/spammed.
-Datruel3gend, the guy who got me into the forums.
-Theriomancer, the most professional guy I knew.
-hero88go and Fantastic Contraption he showed me.
-Trench and The Pit being made into maps. I had a submission that made it to testing so yay me.
-Twotest, the barracks, and general early 2000's cyber sexing.
-2green11, one of my closer TWB friends.
-The original Random Off-Topic Discussion Thread that I made. It went down with p.hant0m's deletion, but Datruel3gend continued it,
making it the longest thread in the history of TWBoards.

Seriously though I gave no proof that Oubilete was p.hant0m, everyone just believed it. What if I took over P.hant0m? Possibility?

Or just suspension of belief because I think it's fun?

Anyway. Like a lot of us, I'm sure, this site saw me through prepubescence and now into adulthood.
Also, I look pretty cool.

Oubilete, our paths have never officially crossed to the point where we had a normal conversation together, but I can just tell we would have been great friends. I've always adored your posts on the boards and am posting now to let you know that I've admired you from afar for many years. I hope you see this and maybe we can talk sometime about your past, my past, and our futures. Thanks for being you.

That's very thoughtful of you Green. I'd almost think it was trolling, maybe it is given my history here, but I'd like to think it's sincere. I don't remember you ever having a problem with me actually, which is really hard to do. <3

Re: TWBoards Nostalgia

I remember joining once I learned that TW3 was coming out. I had ideas, I needed to share them with someone. I was eager to hear what everyone else had in store for the game, and it was so much fun. I remember learning early on that there is a hive mind and that if you poked it too much you would feel the sting, and I almost was chased out of the forums because I thought the rotating platforms were a good idea.

Other than that though, I had a pretty easy time meshing in with the already well establish society that was here. Everyone accepted me and made me feel like my contributions were worth the effort. The first time I truly felt like I was a part of this place was when I redid Ken's Suggest-a-Hat topic and was not chased out with fire, but rather people were happy that it could be updated again. I enjoyed organized everyone's ideas and I enjoyed having a place to show off some of my creations.

Some other things that stick out as very memorable in my mind:

1) Some of the various ideas we all came up with for TW3. Some of them made it, some of them didn't, but they were great none the less.

2) Kool Aids/Wolfman/KlassicKiller - he was the first troll I came across in here and he'll always hold a special place in my heart.

3) The overall acceptance people had for me even if I didn't feel it was deserved or that I belonged. There was a history here that I missed but little by little I began to feel like I belonged.

4) Exe.Cute's Twboards Royale where I surprisingly did pretty well even though I still felt relatively new and that I had not contributed much.

5) Making thebigdonginthesky's Rookie of the Year for 2010 and MVP for 2011.

6) Being chosen for Afro's Map Crew. That feeling...getting to play the game before it was done. That shit was raw as hell.

7) Getting to brainstorm maps with Twin, and actually getting one of them put into the game. That's something I'll tell my kids.

8) Second place in the map contest that was judged by my peers and receiving an official Territory War dog tag.

9) Being nominated to act as moderator for the boards. That's sort of a big deal, it means you're respected, trusted, I'm pretty proud.

10) Being asked by Afro to draw medals for Territory War 3. As if having a map design put into the game wasn't enough.

11) Taiwan's raid on the TWBoards. He fought a valiant fight, but we were stronger.

12) Making the Good Forum Alex meme. That was hilarious.

13) Ninja Mongoose's TWBoards comics.

14) Looking through the topics for codes to play other people's maps in TW3.

15) Watching MissionAccomplished break down from the relentless assault on him and finally admitting he was KlassikKiller.

A mod always remembers his/her first troll. I don't remember the petition, you'll have to explain that one Alchemist.
I'd like to see Mongoose's comics.  I also missed Exe's TWBoards Royale.
Glad to see you chime in and doing well Exe. I always supported you. You never changed that profile picture, not once.
Anyone remember Exe's cryptic messages she made? Like the salad slicers and the beast of TWO? Very clever, and made with Freewebs.
Also, not a single person ever coded their own clan website. I sort of did for a late iteration of Temple; I drew out a design and got a guy to code it.
I actually used an old Exe.post trick with invisible text in one of these.

The Petition incident was when a thread was started to petition the unbanning of Sck.  You locked it, a few more popped up, and they got locked and the OP's banned.  Then you started banning anyone who even said the word "petition".  Half the active members were banned because of the incident, and you don't remember this?

I saw my character in the end picture but I only saw a part where I asked Shrub for sheets. q.q

Editing this to avoid triple posting.
Seeing Shrub's reason for voting for me in the royale was rather touching. Seeing everyone's reason for voting for and against me was also touching. Long ago this place was the most I had going for me, I should have treated it better. To everyone, I'm sorry I didn't mature sooner.

Re: TWBoards Nostalgia

We've had these threads before but now makes the most sense to have one since TWboards might completely die out soon.

I guess I'll say a little about what TWboards has done for my life and then mention some past threads and events that stand out to me (I've been going back and reading some so it should be pretty long).

I failed out of school in 7th grade and became home schooled (technically I went to a "homeschooling program" but what I'm about to say still stands) in 8th grade so I wouldn't be held back. Transitioning was really depressing for me because I wouldn't be able to see my friends during school, which at the time was where pretty much all my friends came from, and I just felt like a failure in general and I thought that if I couldn't even pass 7th grade I surely wouldn't accomplish anything in life. So I spent a good amount of time moping and contemplating suicide because I didn't have much else to do. By the time 9th grade started (I was fully home schooled then, with private tutors coming to our house occasionally) I managed to get used to my situation a little more but I was still a little angsty shit. Sometime around the beginning of my freshman year I found out about TWO, which was great because I loved TW when I was in middle school. I played TWO quite a bit and after a few months I found out about "clans". I visited some, hated them, and ultimately decided to make my own. I made a shitty clan site, which I also used for some dumb rants because I remember liking thebestpageintheuniverse.com a lot at the time. I found out about TWboards and advertised my clan there. At this time I went under the name THE REAL LEGEND. People rightly pointed out that I was an obnoxious idiot and I got pissed so I spent the next we months "trolling" TWboards because I knew they were all losers who did nothing else with their lives but sit on their computers all day in their mom's basements. After a while though it hit me that this place actually had a lot of people far more mature and intelligent than I was. And besides, I sat on my computer all day "trolling" so that also made me realize I wasn't any better than these people. After that I tried to improve myself and I became a better person for it. I've changed quite a bit even after that obviously but there's no point detailing that because I've been here so you guys can read up on my past posts and as I talk about some stuff that stood out to me it'll probably give some context any my twboards life.

So here's some stuff that I especially remember:

1. My fake suicide topic, and the TGOR conversation before that. You probably all know about the suicide topic but a lot of people assumed I just did that for my own amusement which isn't quite true. Before I did that I was at TGOR with some other people. We were talking about how we used to have a reputation as complete assholes and how funny that was but it seemed that was dying down. So Warbird suggested we do something big to change that. He suggested I make a fake suicide topic so all the TGOR guys could make fun of me and we'd all have some good laughs again. Good times, good times.

2. On that note, TGOR as a whole was a great experience. I got shat on a lot as most of you know and I admit it almost got to me after a while but damn they were all hilarious guys so most of the time I could laugh at myself too. Besides, that kind of thing mainly only happened here. When I was actually at TWboards I still had good conversations with the rest of the guys.

3. The petition thing with phantom, of course.

4. My pseudonyms of Gottfried B. Oner and Leonard E. Rection, especially "The Time-Traveling Racist".

5. Goomy getting hit by a car.

6. All the hilarious shitheads we've had. Klassik and Alex come to mind immediately because they were more recent but there's plenty more. Oh yeah, I just remembered Vinnie, which reminds me.

7. The time that Warbird and Rhine co-opted one of Vinnie's art topics into a topic where they just posted autism images for 6 pages.

8. We didn't start the flame war topic. Pretty gay in retrospect but it was fun while it lasted.

9. This one's pretty small but I still remember it pretty well for some reason. I remember a time where a bunch of us went to Exe's chatroom (fourwindsblow or something) and we all used her name and avatar and then terrorized a bunch of clans.

10. Rhine's TWboards Awards topic.

11. The few legitimate discussion we had on here were always nice too. You know, the religion/science crap and whatnot.

12. C.halo's rap topic. If I remember correctly, Sep and Rhine had particularly hilarious ones. Maybe just Rhine but I feel like Sep did too.

13. Silas in general always fascinated me of course, especially when I first got here and I was more impressionable. Now I'm probably the same age he was when he came here so he doesn't seem as mysterious anymore but I would say reading his posts has helped me be more open-minded, especially towards art and especially towards music since he was into all that weird experimental stuff. However, although Silas' taste intrigued me I still don't really listen to a lot of the music he talked about and Warbird was really my guiding light there. He recommended me a lot of good stuff that I still listen to and it surprises me when I realize he told me about them.

There's really a lot more I could put here and I left out a lot of important people in what I did say but I'm not gonna spend more hours reliving the old days.
