Re: TWBoards Nostalgia

It's funny to hear you talk about your beginnings Wally, because  by the time I got here you were TWBoards royalty, and that's the only way I've known you. You, Rhine, Twin, anybody that was in TGOR was really sort of the 'cool club' that ran things around here. I remember being so happy when, I can't remember who, maybe Warbird, asked me to join TGOR. That was the first 'I made it' moment.

I actually really liked Silas too. He was very elitist but also very interesting. That's really cool to hear coming from you Wally, I really sympathize with your story. I'm sure a lot of us did/do and we all had different ways of channeling it through TWBoards.
Mike I don't remember you too well. When I was active you were a semi frequent member. About as notable as Mightyena or some of the other second-tier people at the time.

That's ok I don't know you at all. You popped in every once in a while but from what I gathered you were an older member who didn't frequent as much.

You've all seen me, but that was years ago. Here's a bad selfie with filters I took yesterday:

Re: TWBoards Nostalgia

I discovered this site when I was 13, now I'm 18, and looking back I deeply apologize for some of the awful things I've posted here. This site has consumed countless hours of my life which could have been put to better use. I had almost no real life friends growing up so this place became an outlet for social interaction, which explains my ridiculous post count.  Thank you for being a huge part of my youth and I hope you all lead awesome lives.

HERE IS MY STORY MIKE. Like I only expect Mike to read this because he enjoys stories/history.
I used to be p.hant0m. I was the fourth mod, after f1st. Eventually requested my account be deleted for unknown reasons. Made Oubilete and posed as a new user chiming in just in time to join the "omg where'd phant go" threads. Eventualy decided I wanted to be mod again, announced IT IS I, PHANTOM and lobbied for my remodination. Shawn was skeptical at first and actually told me to cool my self-assurance of regaining modhood. Threads were made about who the mod should be and if they even WANTED me back. Somehow, I got it back. I think most of the invasive practices, mass banning, trolling, and general mischief was made under p.hant0m, but Oubilete was older and was just a dick. Tension was at a high point through my constant trolling (both intentionally and not) and it finally went down when I said I thought Dane Cook was genuinely funny. Everybody went hostile toward me and I posted a troll face to show they'd been trolled, Rhinestone and friends sent many many complaints to Afro and he said it was in the best interest of the boards community to demod me and he personally had no problem with me. I believe I was preceded by Exe. I think I lobbied for her to become mod, or possibly another user. After this, I eventually left the boards with no title to keep me around, reintroducing myself many times with a new hobby or troll tactic (Ponies, im a le gurl xD, idk) Last February, feeling pretty down on my 18th birthday, I decided to revisit with wholesome intentions. Many were skeptical, only knowing me for the dick I was when they last saw me, but eventually they warmed up to me again. Some probably still hate me, I don't know.

The deletion of p.hant0m was a fairly big benchmark in TWB history. With him, many major threads left, (including the original ROTDT) as well as proof of my unethical mod practices. That's about it for me.
I did some backtracking, it was 2009 that Oubilete was born and thusly p.hant0m died.
Further backtracking. Phantom was around the 51st member here.

Re: TWBoards Nostalgia

Posting in an "in my day" thread.

Came here back in 09 when I was 17 ish. Like most of us when we first joined, I was probably a cocky little shit that acted like an idiot. Now I'm just a cocky little shit.
Things that stick out in my mind:

- Petition
- The Marmite member that was Silas. For the record, I liked him, probably because he was elitist as I was/am.
- exe's fantastic headscratching puzzles.
- Mine and 2green's hatred of each other (if it could be described as such).

Unlike other members, you guys had no impact on my actual life although I did spend more time on here than was healthy. Sad to see it dying but I probably won't shed any tears.

Obligatory Picture:

You look nothing like I had imagined. I somewhat agree with Shrub on revealing ourselves ruining the mystery and fun of imagining people based on forum character. It is nice to see everyone for real though, it's easy to forget we're normal people behind the posts.

If you're referring to my Facebook profile picture, that was taken when I was in 8th grade. I would change it but I hate almost all photos of myself and I don't want to draw attention to myself by having "Wally changed his profile pic!" pop up on people's pages. Regardless, my mom actually posted a photo of me a few weeks ago that I think isn't so bad so I may post that here at least since a lot of other people are posting theirs. I can't right now because I'm on a really old computer at the moment.

I'm pretty sure all of us viewed the older members as "TWboards royalty" when we first came on. If you're able to go back and look at practically anyone's first posts you'll realize they are pretty much all bad. From what I remember, your very first post wasn't hated on that much if at all. So I honestly don't ever remember you ever having a bad reputation. I mean, no one thought you would stick around so I guess most people were neutral to you but definitely not negative from what I remember. As you gained more respect with you just seemed really nonchalant and I assumed you couldn't care less when Warbird invited you to TGOR so it's interesting to me that you mentioned it now.

Alex, I'd say the facial hair has actually improved how you look a lot. You look like a pretty chill, mature guy.

Cviper, nice to see you're alive. I've seen a pic of you before I think where you looked sort of emo-ish with long black hair. Maybe it was a fake but regardless you've improved too.

Re: TWBoards Nostalgia

Oh, the petitions were over Warbird being banned. I guess I goofed back then. I banned nearly every active user. That was the heydays of TWB politicking and "sides". Surprised I even had supporters.

Re: TWBoards Nostalgia

Yeah I was like 9 or 10 when I introduced myself into the TW community. I remember playing the original TW on addicting games then I saw an ad for TWO, so i tried it out, I turn 16 in 9 days. I've been around a while but I never made a a big name for myself, I don't think I was disliked but I can't say I was liked as far as I know, I was always just there. It sure has been a while though

Wally, I think a picture of me was posted on here before so you probably have seen me but I've never had long, black hair. At its longest, it was shoulder length and it's always been brown.

Some of it could partly be your lack of avatar and signature. Makes you less memorable as a poster, though I've never seen you post until this one.
