Re: Clan making

Ripped straight from the Clans FAQ ironically placed on the "General" subforum.

Clans

Q: What's a clan?

A clan is a group of people who play and talk about TWO.  They have a chat box on their site which they use to communicate as well as to organize and play organized events like clan wars, tournaments, title matches, and more.

Q: How do I join a clan?

We have a clan list in the Clans subforum which is kept up to date.  The best way to join a clan is to visit one and ask to join in their chat.  Visit their sites to see which clan you like best, then join one that you like.  There is no "best" clan, so join one you like.  You can try to find a clan through TWBoards, but most current clan leaders aren't active on this forum, so your best bet is with the clan sites.

Q: Should I make a clan?

Probably not.  It's best to join an existing clan first to get a feel for how they work.  In order to make a good clan, you need to have:

1) Some eye for site design.  If you think flashing/rotating skulls are really really cool, then you probably don't meet this requirement.  Knowing that text is actually supposed to be readable when it's on a page is a requirement as well.
2) A plan.  What's your vision for the clan, what types of people do you want, and how are you going to become the best?  This can help set you apart from the other clans, as most existing clans don't meet this requirement.
3) Time and patience.  Running a clan is hard work.  You have to recruit members, resolve disputes, and keep everyone else entertained so that they don't quit.  You should be a good leader figure and you MUST be on frequently.  Clans where the main owner isn't around much don't last very long.

Q: How do I make a clan?

1) Go to www.weebly.com
2) Make a site

You now have a clan site.  Now put some stuff on it.  You're gonna want a xat chat, so go to www.xat.com and make a chat, then copy the embed code into your site.  Here's how:

1) Log into www.weebly.com
2) Edit the homepage
3) Click the button that looks like a square with "HTML" in it.  Paste the embed code in that.
4) Hit publish

If you're still having problems, then you probably shouldn't be making a clan until you get more technical experience.

Q: Are clans accessible through the game?

In Territory War Online, there is no clan integration, by which I mean an official clan 'system' that lists members and ranks clans against each other based on their combined stats.  The main issue is that this forum and the game itself use two entirely different login/database systems, and linking them together in a secure manner is a difficult task.  This is under consideration for the sequel, however.

Q: How do I put TWO on my clan site?

By putting TWO on your clan site, you cause the game's creator to lose money he would make from ad revenue, so we encourage you to play on Xgen (http://www.xgenstudios.com/play/territory-war-online-3) or at the creator, Afro Ninja's, site (http://www.afro-ninja.com/game/70).  Additionally, putting the game on your site causes the game to be extremely laggy, so it is impractical to do so.

Q: I want to advertise my clan here.  What do I do?

Every clan gets one clan post in the Clans section.  Your post should have a title including the name of your clan, and should include a link to your clan.  You also should provide some indication as to why your clan stands out from the others.  All clans of the clans think they pwn all the other clans, so you'll want to focus on something other than the skill of your members.  Organization is key, too.
