well the game is already dead so....It not possible to hack on tw3. ether connection issues or lag.

That's a good thing it's not possible, so why did this game die?? Not enough promotion? Any reason for that?

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

Yeah, it was severely under-advertised and Afro totally depended on a dying fanbase rather than working on establishing a renewed one.

Ha, not too far off. To be fair though-
The netplay was built on top of xgen's existing server technology, and they helped to get me up to speed when I started.
The majority of the game's art was created by poxpower, but his services were completed on a contract basis and he had no connection with the actual gameplay or development.
Mike Swain reprised his role as the artist for the castle.
Josh Kemp and Jason Turner created new music tracks.
Luis Castanon created the menu icons/interface
and Rodimus Mike created the achievement icons you see on the stat pages.

Though all of their services were critical in development, their combined hours are probably a fraction of the time I invested into programming, designing, and testing the game.

But unfortunately not advertising, you missed a good shot at a cash cow with TW3, seems to me.

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

Yes and of course all of the beta testers/map crew as well smile
Sorry I was really burnt out on the game even by that point so I was just recalling what into it before I showed anyone.

We got really lucky with the first game, advertising a free flash game was easy back then.
The existing fanbase was a big help, but not enough to really get TW3 where it needed to go.

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

Have you considered cashing in on the mobile market?
Are flash games on the decline these days?
Would you ever release something on Steam?

I see things clearer through my rear-view mirror.
My memory is suffering and I'll probably forget to come back here.

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

Flash games still have a niche albeit a much smaller one. They're unlike steam and generally remain free unlike mobile games.

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

TW3 is a very good game but it's feels unfinished to be honest. The lack of avatar creations on the stat pages,an unfinished level and also the kongregate version is outdated.

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

That stuff was meant to be post launch content. As time went on it just wasn't that financially viable to sink more time into it.
The mobile market is not so easy to cash in on. It's a very lopsided system a small percentage of games make a vast majority of the money.
I'll be testing the waters in a couple of months though with my 'Soda Dungeon' project. It's not TW3, but still retains some turn-based gameplay and strategy (no online play though hmm).

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

You do realize you could probably literally get three times as many players if you add some online mode?

Re: Territory War 3 release v 1.08

Erm, it's not really that kind of game though, it was never intended to be online. It's more of a standard rpg game, not a tactics type of game.
Also, online play is a massive undertaking. There's a reason TWO/TW3 each took over a year to make.
I'll keep you guys updated. I think you'll like it, but it's hard to say. Feedback from testers has been pretty positive, and ArmorGames liked it enough to provide some funding.
